Product Description

Skin & coat, for cats

You iron a black kurta and turn to hang it. Your cat has already moved in, and left a pale outline of fur.

Loose fur comes with a long-coated cat. A dull, dry-looking coat is worth a closer look. Diet is one place to start, and omega fats are part of that.

  • Cats only
  • 200 ml pump bottle
  • Omega 3, 6 & 9
  • Wild-caught Alaskan

Salmon oil for cats is a fish oil supplement that provides EPA and DHA, the omega 3 fats cats need from animal sources. Vettofit Wild-Caught Alaskan Salmon Oil for Cats is a 200 ml pump bottle made for cats only. Given daily with food, it supports healthy skin and coat.

Skin & coat

Is salmon oil good for a cat's skin and coat?

Salmon oil supports a cat's skin barrier and coat condition. Omega 3 and omega 6 fats are building blocks of healthy skin, and the coat grows from the skin. Salmon oil is a supplement, not a treatment. Watch your cat's coat over four to six weeks of daily use. Cats differ, and results vary.

Skin barrier and coat

Omega 3 and 6 help keep the skin barrier strong. A strong barrier supports a soft, glossy coat.

Made for long coats

Persian and Persian-cross cats, long-haired cats and thick-coated Indies grow fur from the same skin. Daily omega support looks after that skin. Brushing still matters.

Daily whole-body support

EPA and DHA also play a part in daily wellness. That makes this a daily habit, not a seasonal fix.

What EPA and DHA also support

  • Heart. EPA and DHA support a healthy heart.
  • Joints. Omega 3 supports easy movement.
  • Brain. DHA is a building block of brain tissue.
  • Eyes. DHA is also found in the eye.

The science, simply

Why cats need omega 3 from fish, not plants

Cats are strict carnivores with a quirk. They lack an enzyme called delta-6 desaturase. So they cannot turn plant omega 3 into useful amounts of EPA and DHA.

Flaxseed and plant oilsplant omega 3 (ALA) Very little conversion EPA + DHA
Salmon oilanimal source Direct supply EPA + DHA

Cats get EPA and DHA from animal sources such as fish. So flaxseed oil is no swap for salmon oil in a cat's bowl (Lenox, Today's Veterinary Practice, 2016).

What the research says, and what it does not

Most omega 3 studies in pets use dogs. Cat studies are fewer. A 2025 review found the strongest results in dog skin disease. It counted two cat studies in osteoarthritis (Vendramini et al., Nutrition Research Reviews, 2025).

We tell you this because it explains our wording. Vettofit Salmon Oil for Cats supports. It does not treat.

  2. Pump the amount onto food. Wet or dry food works. Give it once a day.

  3. Weeks 4 to 6Check the coat. Look at softness, shine and the fur on your brush. Results vary between cats.

Quick fit

Who should ask a vet first?

Ask your vet before you start if your cat:

  • is a kitten, pregnant or nursing
  • has a health condition, such as kidney, heart, liver or pancreas disease
  • takes any medicine
  • has a fish allergy
  • eats a vet-prescribed diet. Keep the diet, and tell your vet before you add anything.

If your cat shows itching, hair loss in patches, or skin changes, please consult your veterinarian. This page is educational, not a diagnosis.

Real homes

Coat care in an Indian home

Persian and Persian-cross cats are common in Indian cities. So are Indie cats with thick coats. Both gain from regular brushing.

Salmon oil adds daily omega support from the inside. It does not replace grooming, a complete cat food or a vet visit. If part of your cat's diet is home-cooked, ask your vet whether it is complete before you add any supplement.

Questions cat parents ask

Salmon oil for cats: your questions answered

How much salmon oil should I give my cat?

Follow the weight chart on the Vettofit label and give the amount once a day with food. Do not go above the label amount. If your cat has a health condition or takes medicine, ask your vet before you start.

Can kittens have Vettofit Salmon Oil for Cats?

Please check with your vet first. Kittens, and pregnant or nursing cats, have different needs. The minimum age on our label is Needs input: minimum age from label chart.

Is fish oil safe for cats?

Many cats take fish oil with their vet's guidance. Some should not, such as cats with a health condition or a fish allergy. Vettofit adds vitamins A, D3 and E at amounts set for cats Vet to confirm: vitamin levels are safe for cats. Cats are sensitive to too much vitamin A, so stay within the label amount and tell your vet about every supplement.

How long does salmon oil take to work on a cat's coat?

Cats differ, and there is no fixed date. Many cat parents compare the coat after four to six weeks of daily use Vet to confirm: timeline wording. Take a photo in daylight on day one to compare. If you see itching, bald patches or red skin, please see your vet.

Will salmon oil help my Persian cat's hair fall?

Shedding is natural in a long-coated cat, and no supplement stops it. Salmon oil supports the skin and coat that the fur grows from. Brushing still does the heavy lifting. If hair loss is sudden or patchy, book a vet visit.

Will my cat eat it? Does it smell of fish?

It is salmon oil, so yes, it smells of fish. Pump it onto wet or dry food and mix it in. Many cats take it without fuss, but some need a slower start. Never force your cat to eat it.

Can I give my cat salmon oil made for dogs?

Use the product made for your pet. Vettofit Salmon Oil for Cats carries a weight chart written for cats Needs input: confirm how the cat and dog formulas differ. Dog charts and dog amounts do not translate to cats.

What do omega 3, 6 and 9 and EPA and DHA mean?

Omega 3, 6 and 9 are families of fatty acids. EPA and DHA are the two omega 3 fats found in fish oil. Cats cannot make useful amounts of EPA and DHA from plant oils, so they get them from animal sources such as salmon.
